A CELESTIAL VIEW The Orion Nebula, a cloud of interstellar gas and dust composed of mostly hydrogen and helium, acts as a stellar nursery where clouds condense under the influence of gravity. The radiation from hot young stars ionizes the surrounding gas, causing it to glow.
